Custom Orders

I am open to custom orders!

Custom orders usually start with a conversation about what ideas the you have, or a description of something you are looking for but cannot find.
I will give advice on what’s possible, and what’s a good idea when it comes to durability, and what changes is needed to ensure the end product is structurally sound.
I will make some sketches and we can discuss them, before I sketch some more based on your input about what you like and don’t like, and any new ideas you’ve had.

The design process tends to take anywhere from a few days up to a full year, depending on what the project is and how fast the customer decides what they want me to make, and how complex the sketches need to be, how many gems I need to photograph, and other factors.

Once a design is decided on and the price has been calculated, I set up a custom listing so you can place the order. The project is then on my to-do list.

Procution time is usually 8-12 weeks from the day an order is paid, depending on how long my waiting list is at that time, but I can occasionally rush an order if you have a special occasion coming up, so feel free to ask.

When I start working on your jewellery, I begin by sourcing the materials I need to create the project, if the gems you selected aren’t ones I have in stock already, and then once I have the gemstones here I will photograph them for you.

If if the project requires wax work, I will show photos of the handcarved wax model so that you can give your thoughts on any changes needed before it’s cast in metal.
The process I use is called “lost wax casting”, and the wax model burns up and is replaced with solid gold.

If it’s a project built in metal from the start, I send photos of the progress where that’s possible.
Once it is finished, I send photos of the final product before I ship.

I don’t do in person consultations or phone calls, I prefer to keep all communication in writing so we both have the opportunity to go back and read through everything we’ve talked about. This helps make sure nothing is forgotten, and reduced the chances of any misunderstandings that can easily happen over the phone.
